I have a D8 that was my Dads. He passed away in 96, so I don't have a lot to go on. The serial number is 1H7682. I am interested in restoring it since I have many fond memories of my Dad running it in the 60s clearing brush when I was just a kid. I learned how to drive it myself when I was a teenager, and helped him install an electric starter for the pony motor. I ran it about two years ago but a couple injectors were plugged, and the pony has lost all compression. Even on 4 cylinders it chugged along pretty well. Is there anywhere to get parts for the pony to rebuild it?

Brian, Your D8 is a 1940, by my book, is near to the last one built for that year. 7689 was the last one for the year 1940 by my information. You can find Cat parts new, used and aftermarket. Go over to WWW.ACMOC.org that is the caterpillar BB, on restoring and etc. for old Cats.

Thanks for the info. I will go to the other site and start digging around. I have been wanting to toy around with the tractor ever since my Dad passed away and now I have some time to get reaquainted with it.
