My 440 has a gas engine and (I think) the hydraulic pump just headed south. Started screaching real bad so I shut her down. Did the simpliest thing I could think of, tighten the belt. This did nothing but make the belt smoke. Is this a major tear down and can the pump be rebuilt or is it usually a throw away at this point? Does anyone know if this pump is interchangeable with an AG tractor/crawler so I don't have to pay the big $$ at the JD Indust store? Thank You for any help.

Bernie is correct, only factory pumps on a 440 were crankshaft driven, or camshaft driven. If you need parts, let me know. Lavoy

On my 420 the hydraulic pump is bolted to the front of the engine behind the radiator. The only belts are one to the fan and one to the generator. Jake Stobbe in British Columbia dismantles JD crawlers and has just about anything you would need. I don't have his phone # right here but I've posted it before, so a search should turn it up. HTH
