have this old 1961 MF 220 backhoe and am having a difficult time getting seals for the hydraulic swing motor it take a square seal 6 inches high by 2.5 inches and about 1/4 inch deep I have a picture of it I can send but it is near impossible to find any one that sells this. Also the backup washer seal is same size but seems to be of leather construction and is no longer available at a dealer any leads on this would be much appreciated regards rod

I may not understand your situation, but my rotary actuator on an old backhoe uses a quad ring seal, which is just an O-ring with a square cross section. Could this be what's molded into your seal gland? If you send me a picture, I'll see if I have other thoughts, although when I first saw your message, I figured that someone familiar with this machine would reply.

Hey Rod, check out Hercules Hydraulics site. You can download the current catalogs and maybe be able to match up the seals you need. In my experience unless what you have is extreemely old or odd, they will almost anything you can think of or will ever need. Also, you can call your local hydraulics shop and give them any and all numbers off the motor that you can find. They may be able to match it up to a specific pump manufacturer and get you the seals that way. Sometimes this works, and sometimes the actual manufacturer will put an equipment OEM part number on the pump and really mess things up so you have to go back to them to get parts, but on a machine this old that isn't really likely. Good luck.

One model of backhoe attachment for Melroe Bobcat used a square seal ring similar to MF . Different size but maybe cut/superglue and make one?
