I’m looking for some advice on a ford 555b backhoe; we are going to an auction this weekend and would like to know what to look for. 1: is this a good hoe? 2: What is fair market $ 3: What are the week points of the ford 555b 4: How can I test the hydraulics on the hoe? 5: How are parts compared to case and deere? Thanks

The 555's were a strong and fast hoe but therein lies the problem they were not good at taking abuse, inspect the machine closely and I'll bet you will see stress cracks in the backhoe boom and loader frame, parts prices are competitive with JD and Case, I'd say $5000-$6000 at auction, there really no way to test hydraulics in an auction environment, you will need to run it for an hour or so to see if it is as strong then as it was when you started.
