TD-7E Transmission Problems

I'm new to this machine. When I select foreward some times the trans pulls just fine. Other times it acts if the trans is in neutral. Everything was great a day ago. When I select reverse the tractor backs up about four feet then stops. I'm thinking it's time to change all the filters on the transmission. Does anyone have any thoughts...am I on the right track?? I know there is a filter in the tank for the trans and at least 1 high pressure filter. Are there any more for the transmission. Has anyone ever experienced this problem before? Thanks Steve

You could have several problems. Check the pressure filter and there is a suction screen that is a wash out filter - some were in bottom of trans and some had external can depending on serial number. If something coming apart will most likly find metal in suction scree. Also could be charge pump or seal rings in trans clutch pack or in steering clutches or final drives. When does it do it- first thing when starting up or when warmed up? If when first fired up check to see if drive shaft is turning fast right when starts if not check charge pump.

It appears to be ok when cold but a little sluggish going into gear. Is there also a filter in the tank for the trans?

The one inside the tank on the right side is for the hydralics. The trans filterwas usually under the left arm rest and the suction strainer was inside a cover on the lower right front of the trans on earler machines. Later ones had both under the floor boards.
