With you guys' help I've traced down a 6 gpm internal leak in the backhoe control valve stack. Any ideas to further refine the search?

Would that plug be located on the end section opposite the end with the return line? There definitely is a rather large relief valve at the top of the end section oppsite the return line.

Can't tell you without having it where I can see it. I suggest you pull out any plugs and look at them, it can't hurt anything. A convertible plug will be solid steel with oil rings and backup washers, i.e. it won't have any internal parts. It's also possible, depending on the control valve, to find circuit relief valves. They are used to put a lower maximum working pressure on specific functions. You'll almost always find them on backhoe control valves. I don't know about the loader valve. All a loader has is pressure up and down, and curl up and down, right? So, it's possible it might have a circuit relief valve for one of those functions, I don't remember. A circuit relief vavle usually has it's preset working pressure stamped on it. Also, if you remove one, it won't be solid steel, i.e. it has internal parts and seals. Either way, convertible valve, or circuit relief valve, if the o-rings are blown, they will leak. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I haven't worked on a 410B for a long time.

That's a big leak. Check and see if it's a convertible valve; JD used them in some applications. Covertible valves can be used in open-center systems with gear-pumps, or closed center systems with piston pumps. There's a plug that screws into it that defines its use; i.e. an open-center plug and a closed center plug. If the valve is setup for closed center, and the packings blow of the plug, it will have a very big leak.
