I'm looking at a JD350 dozer and want to what price would be decent. It is a 3 cyl. gas with reverser; no ROPS;no winch. Approx 2700 hrs. drawbar;manual angle; manual tilt; approx. 50% u/c. Runs good. This has been used on a potato farm in the muck. Is this an easy life for this machine or should I be concerned about silt in the working parts? What would be a reasonable price? Thanks, TM

Bought a junker last year for $2,500. (Straight JD350/6way.) My idea was to find one mechanically toasted but with decent steel (one that hadn't been burned, rusted or torqued out of shape) and refurbish it, that way I wouldn't get supprised by a machine that looked O.K. but became a money pit. It worked out like this: new Berco u.c.-chains, pads, idlers, sprockets $3,200, rebuild engine $2,500 and misc. $1,000. So for around $10,000 I'm going to have what is essentially a new machine. A lot of labor, but what could you buy new for that price. I know I can always sell it and get my money back...they don't make a decent small machine anymore, I've already had offers of around $12k.

If it's a 350 no B or C after it, it is a late 60's machine. If the 2700 hours is correct then it has had a very easy life. Don,t believe hour meters!! The company I worked for had one for 25 yrs, rebuilt the engine 5 times but it worked hard 8 months of the years.

If it's the inside-blade model with manual tilt and angle (loggers' special) it would probably bring $4500 to $5500 around here (central New York State). Depends on the time of year, and actual condition. I've seen quite a few advertised as 50 % undercarriage that were really around 10%.
