Machine as no oil cooler on it. Pulled head did not found any sign of have a blown headgasket. Head did have cracks on 3 of 4 cylinders. The cracks were in between the gas intake value and the diesel intake value. I have been told that could cause oil in water, but on the other hand, people say that there is no way that could cause oil in the water. Is it like the head or a cracked oil galley in the block. And what would be good engine to repower machine with if block is bad?

That would let water get into your oil. If you had a crack in the oil gallery you would have engine oil on top of the coolant in your rad. A good way to check these things is to pull the oil pan if you can get it off. Then pressurize the cooling system and see where it's coming from while the engine is still all together. Later Bob

International Crawlers were known for eaisly cracked heads and easily stuck steering clutches. Somebody probably did not let the machine idle for a little while after working it. In the longrun you are probably better off putting reman heads on rather than changing the engine.
