I recently purchased a 450C and the Temp. guage for the converter/transmission does not work. I bought a new gauge and assumed I would just follow the line/cable to the sensor location. The line was cutoff and I cannot find the sensor anywhere. I found the converter oil pressure gauge line coming from the top of the converter housing and another line running from the right side of the converter housing to the radiator. I called the Case dealer and they told me the sensor should be located on top of the transmission. I found a sensor of some type that I believe was hooked up to the backup horn but nothing else. Can somone please tell where the converter/trans. sensor is located on a 1991 Case 450C dozer? Also, what size allen wrench is needed to remove the transmission drain plug and the engine oil drain plug? Thanks!

Scott, they are usually on the line from the converter to the Cooler/Radiator and right at the converter. They may have removed it and pluged the hole. Look foir a pipe plug the size if your sender. Later Bob

Thanks for the help Bob. I did find a plug in the converter housing just above where the line going to the radiator is tapped. The plug size matches the new sensor size/threads. I will check the fitting on line itself again to make certain I did not overlook a plug in the line fitting.

Scott, it needs to be in the oil flowing out of the converter to the cooled to read right. Later Bob
