After hitting a small stump with my blade the shaft from the engine to the hydraulic pump rounded off. This is a MF 30B Ind. Can the shaft be removed and replaced in the pump or am I looking at $1,000 to replace the pump and the shaft extension from the engine? Shouldn't these have a pressure relief valve to prevent this? Thinking about taking it to a machine shop but if I can't get the shaft out of the pump this may not be an option. Any simular experience or ideas please advise!

I don't know if they're the same but I just finished doing the same job on my mod 20. The pump comes off by removing the center bolts on side of pump. then pull pump straight forward. You'll probably find a sheared key and a bad coupling. The drive shaft to the pump can then be removed by holding inside of bottom pulley with a pipe wrench and unthreading drive shaft and coupling assembly from bottom pulley mounting.(this is a left hand course thread) The coupling and shaft assembly then need to be pressed apart. Apply heat to the coupling as mine was also silver soldered together.(don't know if this is a factory job or from a previous teardown)
