In an earlier post I asked about the 30 wt oil for the track rollers and idlers and appreciate the responses. Since the unit is new to me I don't know if the rollers will hold the oil but it seems worth the try. Anyway now that I have the onwer's manual in hand [thanks to YTMAG] I see that a "special tool" is used. It appears to be nothing more that a button head fitting with an extension rod. Is this tool available? Is it common to other makes? Thanks in advance.

I believe you are referring to a button head grease fitting, which you can obtain at a local NAPA store for approximately $20, maybe more or slightly less. You can then thread this to whatever you are using to pressure feed the oil.

Yes, it is a button head connection but the picture shows a tube ~6" long that would extend into the roller. I'm guessing that the extension ensures that the 30 wt is injected into the center of the roller. For the front idler a simple button head fitting is used to expell the old oil out the opposite side fitting.

Steve, you can use a large oil can and squirt some oil in untill it starts to run back out. The other tool is handy if you are rebuilding a lot of rollers but the oil can will do you fine. Later Bob

An old non-catridge grease gun and a button head attachment works great. A new gun is $150.00 w/ end

If you use a grease gun be shure it is of the low pressure type which has a large diameter pump piston. Also you stop pumping when you feel the first resistance.
