After reading Taylor's post about Chinese dozer's I'm just about ready to look elsewhere. Who else makes a decent, LIGHT dozer? I'd like something in the six to seven thousand pound range. The appealing parts of the Chinese dozer were 1) the weight @ 6200lbs, 2) the powershift and reverser, and 3) the 3pt hitch and PTO. I've considered getting another D3, but wanted a smaller machine this time. Wednesday I'll have a chance to see the Chinadozer in person for a few hours to play with it. Thanks to all who helped. Regards, Jeff

Jeff , I think you will not be happy with a small machine. I have JD 350B @ 12000 lbs and I shure wish I had more machine most of the time. I usually do small jobs also. It takes weight to move earth. Don't waste your time with a toy. Usually people mess with this small stuff so they can move it with a pick-up. Get the righy machine for the job or hire it out. You will save yourself time and money.

Hi, Jeff. Another poster mentioned the All Seasons Vehicles (ASV) machines. From what little I've seen of them DownUnder, they seem to be real little workhorses and I understand they are affiliated with Caterpillar. The link to their website is below. Happy hunting. You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Cat bought into ASV (Grand Rapids MN)about 4-5 yrs ago. About the same time Cat was developing it's skid steer business. At that time it was 12% ownership. ASV wanted Cat's MTS track for their machine. This is the same track that's on the Challenger tractors & Cat's skid steers. ASV was started by the same guy who started Arctic Cat in MN. ASV started as snow trail grooming equipment. They are a fairly new company. Good quality from what I here. Good luck with your decision! Steve

there is a company that is called All Season Veheical. They make a universal crawler called the POSITRACK. its hydrastatic drive and is made to put just about any attachment on it that is out there. It has rubber tracks and 4 cylinder diesel. the one i tryed out was setup to have a loader but with the removeal of a few pins it comes off and you can put a 6 way blade. attachement fit either end and also has a pto and a 3 point hitch. it is a ultimate small machine and weight around 6500 pounds without attachments.it doesnt look like it would do much but is a real work horse. I dont know if they have a website, maybe someone will know.

In Australia the Fiat crawlers always sell well.I owned a 555 with PTO,Linkage, angle blade,& found it a good worker.Only problem is a 6' tall man has trouble sitting in one all day...not a lot of leg space. The small jap dozers are good ,but are rarely found with linkage etc.

Jeff, check out some of the Japanese Dozers, like Komatsu (Japanese version of Cat) and several others. They are much better built than the chinese dozers and more durable. Check them out and good luck.

Jeff, They are not new, but remember that the 350 Deere came with a 3PT and PTO, as well as the older models. I have a 3PT and PTO on a 420, 440, and a 350 and they work great. You should put an overrunning clutch on them if you are going to pull a mower though. I would guess that Case may have had a 3PT on the newer models, but the newest I have seen was a 310. Allis Chalmers as well, I know the H3/HD3 were available with a 3PT and PTO as well. None of the above will be new, but they are around, and parts availability is probably better whether new or used part. Lavoy

Jeff Hi. Hey I do own and operate a chinese nachine. Mine is the older style I bought it new in 01 it is the two cylinder machine. The gauges and paint were horrible but the machine has always ran like a champ. Starts and runs right now. I did put a throw our bearing in it but overall its been a fun handy little bugger. It is great with a brush hog in the grease wood and thorny brush. I think they are simple to work on and alot of compact tractor dealers can get the parts easily. I would love to run the newer hydro shuttle unit, Good luck. I think alot of people overlook the whole farm cat idea of having a three point and pto, You could go get an awsome D4 or JD350 or a case but all you have is a dozer. I have several dozers and a komatsu track loader and I love them all but the little china dozer will do certian things others wont. Again good luck I hope you get a good machine that you will enjoy.

Thanks for the input of having actually operated one of these critters. As for size, in this case smaller is better as I intend to tow this machine on a trailer behind my pickup. I do have an old, but still very workable Caterpillar D-6 crawler tractor with a manual six-way blade for the heavier work. I repeat, D-6 for larger work, small dozer for smaller, finish work, and farm chores. If anyone is concerned about me overworking a dozer, the should come see what I did twenty years ago with my D-9. I miss that tractor. Regards, Jeff

I tend to agree with you Kovel. Have you checked to see where the computer parts were made for your machine, or where your pens and pencils were made, or where your toilet parts were made, or where your plumbing fixtures were made, or where your light fixtures and bulbs were made, or where your kids bikes were made, or where the kids toys were made, or where your lawn mower was made, or where many of you car or truck parts were made or where your ..... ..... ... It is depressing and will get worse!
