Hi, I am looking at a 440icd jd. Onwer says it runs well. The direction reverser connecting rod is broken. What could i be getting myself into?? Also were the gas final drives different than the diesel versions? I know the ring and pinions were different on the 435 wheel tractors. Thanks for you input

Diesels always used the big transmission, gas did not until later. Diesel uses 55 tooth bull gears, gas used 55 and 56. Final drive cases themselves did not change between gas and diesel except maybe when the gas changed to the heavy 1010 style final. Lavoy
