I have been looking at buying a 955 or a 977 track loader. I would need to get an older machine that needs worked on. I used to be a diesel mech in my 20's. I would like to know anybodys opinion and there experiencewith these 2 machines. If anybody has one for sale I would like to know that to. Have a good day Jay White Belle Plaine Ks

Jay just to add to what Bob says the first thing you need to answer is what are you going to be using the machine for. The 955's are a 4 cylinder machine v/s the 977 been a 6 cylinder. When looking at a used track loader make sure you not only check out the undercarriage condition but also the boom assembly. These units have a lot of wear points on them ie not only do the pins and bearings wear but also the pin bores on the bell cranks and on the end of the boom where the bucket attaches. These can become very pricey to repair if required. Also you should be aware that a track loader is not what I call a mechanic friendly machine to work on. When working on the engine, if only to service it, you are working around the loader boom, cylinders and linkages.

Jay they are older machines as they where not produced since the early 80's. They are both good machines. If you can get by with the 955 it will be easier to move than the 977. Get a K model 85J 55 or 11K 77 at the oldest. The parts are harder to get for the H models 60A 55 and 53A 77's Later Bob
