just working on my td-18 i just got (boy is it bigger than the td-9) what is the short lever beside the gear shift and what does the rod from the clutch lever doing going to the gears on top of the trans, thanks

The short lever is probably the hi-lo shift, mine is the same length as the gear shift lever. The linkage connected to the clutch lever is a locking mechanism that prevents shifting (or jumping out of) gears while the clutch is engaged. This can lead to real excitement when the clutch lever breaks below the floorboard and you are operating in close quarters, but that's another story...

on my td-14 theres a rod that goes to the transmission brake. the lever is hi-lo shifter. anyone need td-14 parts? engine is whooped, but runs, rest of machine is fair. i'm in northeast pa

I believe the short lever you are referring to is the Hi-Lo shift lever for the transmission. I'm not familiar with the clutch lever rod you are referring to.
