I have a neighbor who is interested in selling her father's D2. He passed away quite a few years ago and it's been sitting in her barn. I believe he purchased it new...it's registered 6795 hours and has a number of 4U2040. My wife's uncle had it operating a couple of years ago, but since then it's had no use. Can anybody tell us the approximate year of manufacture and a rough value range for an unrestored, yet operational piece of equipment.

Stuart I would say 1,000 to 5,000 Percent life of undercarriage and what it has on it. Dozer blade, hydraulics, PTO, Pony (elec start or pull rope) all make a difference in value. If the undercarriage is worn out and no blade you will be lucky to get $1000 for it. If this is the case you may get more out of it by selling parts. Also seems to make a difference where you are located. The price will vary depending on location. Supply and Demand Tractor without Dozer blade would be a little under 7,000 lbs.

1949 40" track width made in Peoria. Should weigh 10000lbs or thereabouts. Without photos showing wear of tracks, overall condition of machine and sheet metal, dont know if its been stored inside or out, or location, its hard to say. Does it have pony motor start or is it electric, does the pony start with rope or electric? What equipment is on it? All these will affect price. With information given, Id say $1000-2000. If you can get more information, Im interested bill.strickland@smdc.army.mil thanks
