I have a 1983 D3B that is having a hard time steering left. 150 hours ago I had both clutches and brake rebuilt/replaced. These are dry clutches. I replace the bearing roller on the end of the control valves at this time and adjusted all the linkages. I am now noticing a spongy left brake that I have to mash to the floor to turn. The clutch seems to disenage OK, but keeps on going straight unless I press very hard on the brake. Any ideas?

Campro, Adjust the brakes up as tight as you can get them. Then check for any peddel movement, you shouldn't have any. Back the adjusters off 1 turn, pull the pins out of the linkage to the brakes at the back of the machine. Make the linkage rods as short as you can and still get the pins into them when you are pulling back on the rod and pushing forward on the lever to the brakes. Then back off the brake adjustment untill you get the peddals to have the right travel, likely one more turn. When you get them right the brakes will not drag and the machine should steer with a light toe pressure. Later Bob

Bob- You seem to be familiar with D3B's---Have you run into governor control problems on the piece with the gear shift and throttle control both on one handle?? On mine the speed control works OK in reverse, but when you shift into forward 1, 2, and 3, the engine speed goes progressively slower. In 3F it's just slightly above idle. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks. Jim
