Thanks Gatractorman for your input. Can I please have more? I took someone with me to look and he says the undercarriage is in great shape and has not yet been flipped or turned? He believes the reason the track jumped is either a locked idler roller or because the extension cylinder has collapsed. It is all the way in. Do not know whether the owner collapsed it to try and get track back on or whether cylinder is bad. But, it appears to have a locked idler on both tracks and both are showing a very small amount of wear on one side of the U/C. I think I can fix that reasonably. He showed me the tracks are not rusted up. They are as free as they can be. We tried every socket we had (1" through 1.5" in 16ths) to turn the crank pulley to determine if motor is frozen but none would fit on the bolt. Could not figure out why.? But, no obvious reason to believe motor is damaged. There is still diesel in tank and we primed the system using the engine mounted pump and pressure built up. Next step I think is to clean up a little and replace fuel and see if it will crank. I assume it is 12v system. ? If it does, my buddy thinks we might can back it back over the track using some jacks and long crowbars. And a Bobcat of mine if needed. Any idea what all the instruments are and does this thing have glowplugs? It has a little dash cubby with a filterminder and about 6 gauges and then a broken pushbutton. Would that be glowplugs. Also the levers and pedals. Has a joystick bucket controller. Has 4 pedals, I assume 2 are brakes, 2 are steering.? Has a lever on the dash and I assume it is forward and reverse.? Has a shifter on left hand that does not appear to lock into anything positively (like a gear in a tranny). Is that because it is hydraulic drive? Other than this, it still looks like a fair deal to both me and the seller. I hope. Thanks in advance for the responses. David

Ok it's sounding better, a failed track adjuster cylinder would definately let the track walk off, I dont know the size of the crank pulley bolt but it's gonna be metric also it seems I remember a locking tab bent up on one of the bolt flats, I cant remember if 12 or 24 volt system if the batteries are still in it just look at how they are hooked up if positive of one battery connected to negative of other battery it will be 24 volt, if pos. to pos. 12 volt, the ones I been around did not have glowplugs or a heater of any kind so they required just a sniff of ether on a cold morning, seems they did have provisions for an ether start system (that of course was used up years ago and the can was never replaced) let's see 6 gauges, you should have engine oil pressure, engine water temp., amp or volt meter, trans. oil pressure???(not sure on that one, some machine had them some not) trans. temp and an hourmeter, broken pushbutton may be the starter switch or the ether injection switch or a horn, 4 pedals? hhhmmmm, extreme right and left will probably be brakes and steering the 2 middles would have to be parking brakes but they are usually activated by one large middle pedal the FL-7's had a smaller pedal on either side for the decelerator, lever on the dash I would guess would be the throttle, the shifter on the left should control forward and reverse with forward and back motion as well a speed ranges 1-2-3 with left to right motion, as machines age the linkages get worn and you wont feel a definate engagement, you will find them when you get it running, Good Luck and keep us posted on progress.
