Milky Hydraulic Oil...

Gentlemen, I've got a question. I bought a JD backhoe about a month ago, I've been tinkering around with it and fixing it up, I've got it pretty much up to snuff, except, the hydraulic oil is milky, I've been cracking the drain plugs and attempting to drain the water off, but all I get it a couple of drops and then milky colored oil. I hate to sound like a cheap A$$, but I'm kind of strapped for cash and hydraulic oil is 5 bucks a gallon, is there any way I can drain it out and get the water out and reuse it?? I'll sure appreciate any suggestions. I really wouldn't mind draining it all and and starting fresh, but I'm thinking all the cylinders are half full and if I drain and then put in new oil, and then the oil will be milky again, and that would really make me unhappy. Any way to save some money?? Thanks.

Bob's right, your stuck with draining it. I know you said your strapped for cash, but the water will cause premature wear in the hydraulic pump. When the pump goes bad then your gonna be talking 5 bucks a gallon for fresh oil because the old is contaminated with metal, and the cost of a pump on top of that.

Larry, you are beat for changing the oil. The water is mixed in an emulsion with the oil, just work it and get the oil hot before you drain it out. Later Bob
