I just bought this dozer the other day and seems to be in good shape except for the engine misses. I did have a chance to loosen injector lines to see if I could tell which cylinder is not hitting. It seems that number 3 does not make any difference. number 2 some difference and 4 some difference. 1,5,and6 made a great deal of difference. It starts easily but smokes real bad till it warms up a lot but still has that spluttering at half to full throttle. At full throttle the spluttering is bad. it holds great oil pressure and temperature is normal. it supposedly had an incomplete overhaul about 2 years ago and the main thing other than rod bearings and rings were both heads were rebuilt. I would appreciate any info on troubleshooting this problem. thanks, ron

Try taking an injector from one of the good cylinders and swapping it with #3. If #3 is still dead then you have eliminated the injector. If the problem travels to the cyl. that you put #3 injector in, then you have a bad injector.

I forgot to add that during the overhaul process, it was supposed to had 3 injectors rebuilt and the other 3 checked.
