Just wondering if anyone has any helpful tips on how to get a steering clutch to work when it is stuck open? I recently purchased the crawler and found out that the seller tied the clutches back so the clutches wouldn't stick closed. But, now the right clutch has the opposite problem. Thanks for any advice!!!!

Adam , I have a similar problem with a 500C Int. crawler. Since it is not used often and sits for long periods of time, the clutches collect moisture and stick. What I have done in the past to break it loose is remove the cover, loosen the brake band, and soak all the linkage and parts that I can with WD40(it evaporates the quickest).Try not to get alot on the discs themselves, then tap the clutch pack with a hammer and drift while moving the lever.Sometimes it takes awhile to get it loose, but it beats having to dismantle the machine for an hour or two of work. Also , if you get it freed up and everything re-adjusted, the clutch may slip until you get all the WD40 burned off the plates , which usually doesn't take long.Good luck.

We have new and used parts available for your machine. We also have manuals available. I would suggest getting yourself the parts and service manuals, if you don't already have them. They can be a major time and aggravation saver. If you are interested in anything please email us directly.

Adam, you are saying that it will not drive on the right side. Maybe the clutch is worn and will not hold. I don't know much about where to look in to it, but I think it's slipping. Later Bob

i've had mine out, and its a bear of a job. they are dry clutches, and yours is probably rusted, stuck, open. you'll have to remove the deck plate, unbolt the clutch pack, and remove it, ya need a hoist, or 2 big guys. then, disassemble the clutch, and clean the rust, lube it lightly, check operation, and reassemble. figure 2-3 days work.i priced new plates, and to rebuild one is in the 700-800 range. good luck, jim
