I have a Case 310 which recently started making a noice in reverse, and won't go in first. When trying to go forward in first, the engine bogs down like the brakes are on. The other forward gears work fine. Also, the right steering brake isn't working now. I'm not a mechanic, but I am mechanically inclined. Is there anyone within the states surrounding Indiana that would be willing to work with me to get my 310 fixed? Please e-mail me and we can discuss the details. Thanks Brad

i rebuilt my 310g transmission this past summer. first and reverse have one thing in common, the reverse gear shaft, which rides on burrless bearings. it could be that your bearings are out enough that the first gear, is binding. you have to remove the transmission to get to the shaft, it comes out thru the differential case. you'll need a machine shop to build you a new shaft, and the bearings are standard off the shelf size. the case also wears where the shaft goes thru, so you may need to fix that also. i dont have a parts or repair book, i was just winging it, but its fairly straight forward mechanical stuff. figure a couple weeks downtime for this job. you can call me for more details if you want, #570-746-1379. good luck
