I am trying to determine the model and year of a 550 JD dozer based on its serial number. That number is 326365D. If anyone can give me an idea of the year and model of this dozer it would be greatly appreciated. I am considering purchasing this machine for $10,000 Canadian dollars. I've operated it for about 6 hours and it pushes very well with no noises or slippage in the transmission. The only thing I am concerned about is a slight delay, approximately a second and a half or so, when transitioning from forward to reverse, and vice versa. Any advice regarding this machine would be appreciated.

Darryl, take advantage of what I learned the hard way. Don't walk away from that 550 with the slipping transmission. RUN!! I found out after I bought, the 550 trans, was mfg. in Great Britton and not much, at it best. Cost up to $15,000.00 to repair, may go back out after a few hours of operation. The 450 had a better trans. alvinnms

Hi Darryl, the 550 had too much power fo its own good,I have one,it tore up one final drive box,I looked further and found the housing behind the trans was also full of cracks,so I scraped the machine,if anybody needs trans parts I have them,----- ---Joe
