Buying a used D3 that is in good condition but has sat for awhile and the rails are sticking a little. Two suggestions have been given. Raise the cat so that the tracks turn; rotate the track until the stuck pad comes to the end of the roller; then beat it a few times with a sledge. Second suggestion is to run the dozer up and down a gravel creek bed with standing water. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I had to take mine to a track shop. They pressed the pins out and reamed out the bushing. Only way to keep the kinks out. Seems like JD sold some defective rails awhile back. I picked up several trailor loads being returned to the mfg.alvinnms

If you are in an area that has it, pushing snow for a couple of hours will usually loosen them up and wear them in a iittle so it is less likely to happen again. Lavoy
