The Tractomotive Corp made the loaders attachement for AC, in 1956 they along with Baker Snow Blade company were purchased by AC. Prior to this all equipment on an AC crawler was from what was then know as Allied equipment companies. They included Caraco, Garwood, Weir and many others. Once they became part of AC they went on to develope the rubber tired loader. One neat concept introducted by tractomotive was the use of a loader assembly which could be easily added to a standard factory built machine. Take a standard crawler and just drive into the loader frame and couple up the lines and off you go. Look on the rear of the machine in the upper left hand corner below the fuel tank. You will find a number like HD9G or HD5G or a G prefix. The first three characters will be the AC model Number the G prefix is for the loaders, The F prefix is for the side boom version produced by AC. There exists and X prefix which applied to only the HD9 and HD 15 models. They were an experimental blade design by Baker. The records are not very good on that model either 40 or 400 of the 9X were built. I have been told that the leading expert on AC construction Equipment has only seen a photo of one and has shown it in his book. I have one complete of that model. From there you can get the standard chassis book. The pump should be a baker hydraulic pump and most of the seals and packing glands were baker in origin. Got any questions let me know. drott@ibdozing.com www.ibdozing.com
