Got a little problem with my dozer. I went to move it today, and when I started it there was no oil pressure. Oil is full, completly serviced fall 2002, new oil and filters.Used for about 40 hrs. since with only minor oil usage(less than 3 ots.) .Pressure was always good and would come right up to mid range or higher on gauge. was last started and moved about 2 month ago, no problem. It has the 573 v8. Now Is there a possibility of just something simple, that commonly occurs, and is easily fixed. Or is it an engine removal job?? I haven't tried new filters, yet. New ones are comming. But just hopeing for something simple. Any foresight would be greatly appreciated. Joe

treat this seriously! It could be broken oil pump gear. Buy a $10 oil guage test unit at NAPA & plug it into block where your present guage plugs in. If it also reads "0" you've got something wrong big time.

This is why I am asking. It was working just fine when last run, no signs of trouble. I used it to take out a couple of fencerows last August. then parked it. Had to move it in October. Started it up, pressure came right up, no problems.I let it run for awhile, then shut it off. It sat there till I wanted to put it up on tires for winter . When I started it Yesterday, no pressure whatsoever? Never had one just quit like that, that is why I was wondering if these engines had some quirk to them . Before, I could get pressure by cranking with the starter. And now I cant. I opened up the line to the gauge, and no oil whatsoever. The frozen water sounds like a possibility, as it is stored outside, and last Nov. we had alot of rain. I will put a heater on it today, and see if that helps. Thanks for the answers Joe

Hi It could be like Jim said, sometimes water seeps in and doesnt get mixed with the oil to turn it milky just slowly weeps into the oil pan and then sinks to the bottom then freezes, does your dip stick read a little over full? I had this happen to a farmall H that i own. All i did for that was remove the drain plug then put a space heater on it water drained out then the oil, changed the oil a few times to flush it and been good ever since. Good luck Ken

I doubt this is your problem, but you never know and this is pretty basic and easy to check. Recently I noticed my Volkswagen oil pressure was reading low (on my aftermarket analog line fed gage) and I also observed quite a bit of oil drippage. Like a dope, after putting off investigating it, the oil pressure almost dropped to zero and oil really started leaking out. Turns out the oil pressure sending unit/switch (for the idiot light) developed a leak and oil was squirting out past the terminal, thereby lowering the oil pressure and causing a significant leak. A few weeks ago I spoke with a guy who was trying to sell his IH 125C and he said the same thing happened to his loader. So you might want to check, just to make sure...hopefully that's what it is because it's cheap and easy to fix. Good luck....

Could be something as simple as a bad guage,or oil line with condensation frozen in it,or ice in the bottom of the oilpan blocking the pickup.Any of this or something more serious with your lack of maintenance is possible.

Checked gauge, and it works ok, amd no leaks. Could be condensation ,as it is stored outside and we had a lot of rain last month. Although there is no milky presence to the oil. Joe
