50% tire tread, can I cut out the center ridge?

The tires on my loader are at 50%, so people tell me. The tires are 15.5 x25, they are loader/grader tires. They have worn down to a center ridge down the center of the tire. Given that the tread has worn down to this ridge, the sides of the tread still are deep. Can I cut out the center of the ridge between the lugs to get better traction so it dosn't spin so easy, rather grib then slip? Thank you for your input. Robert.

bcPA thank you for responding to my question. The loader tires are 15.5 x 25, down the center of the tire there is a ridge that is higher then the sides of the top of the tire. The side tread is about 1 inch high and the center is flush with this center rib. Orginially the tire had one inch of tread above this center rib. I am thinking of taking a wood router with a wood bit and cutting out shallow cuts of rubber about 1 inch wide at a time. Any comments on this game plan?

you dont want to cut the fabric plys under the rubber. I have regrooved many pick up and bigger truck tires. I have cut a few cords also that I had no intension of cutting, but readjusted the regroover and got away with the few I had already cut. My regroover only takes about a quarter inch wide groove out at a time I dont believe that would be a effective tool for what you want to do.Good luck
