Td-9/150 loader transmission oil change interval?

Been reading the manual for my new IH-150 loader and have a few questions about the lubrication intervals. It says that the tranny oil should be replaced every 1000 hours or every year whichever comes sooner. I can see replacing every 1000 hours, but I'll take way, way more than a year to put 1000 hours on the machine. What do owners/operators really do with this? Is it advisable to change the transmission oil once a year, even if you only put on 250 hours in that year? Considering that the oil capacity is 34 quarts I'd like to avoid this is as long as possible, but still want to fully protect my machine. Any real world ideas on this from you experts? Right now the transmission oil looks crystal clear and very clean (with 480 hours on it)...if it gets water in it, is it readily evident? Also, unless I'm missing something in the manual it does not refer to a replacement schedule for hydraulic fluid (which uses 30W motor oil just like the engine and tranny does). Again the capacity is 15.5 gallons which is a lot! Anyone know how often this is changed? Lastly, is there an easy way to replace the oil? By that I mean outside on my wooded lot. I guess I'll need to have a drain pan with a sump pump to pump all that oil into a big tank or something? Thanks in advance... PS> Oh one more thing, I'm assuming an IH150 loader is the same thing as a TD-9 with a Drott loader bucket...is that right? (i.e. are parts interchangeable?)

As I understand the 150 is the same as the tracror of the td-9b dozer. People who use there old tractor for "show" spend the money to change hydro very when the book says. I just fill it up as she leaks out(which is quick.) The tranny I would look after a little quicker and change every two years or 700 hours. I work this old "junk" and have a lot of spare parts.

Thanks Td-9, appreciate the response. I'm trying to learn more about this thing so I can keep up with the maintenance and make sure I don't screw anything up. So you run a Td-9 close to the year of my machine (1969?)? Got any good links or sources for new/used parts, information etc? One thing Ive seen is that sprockets aren't available, which worries me some (although the sprockets on my machine are in good shape). Thanks again for your help, Sean
