Is it possible for the engine coolant to mix with the hydraulic oil.Mine is losing coolant & gaining water in the transmission/hyd. oil. If so, what is the fix? It has the diesel eng.& the reverser trans.1964 model TD 340A. Thanks, Gerald

I have the same model machine. I'll be interested to see any other responses, but I would think that the two problems are distinct. It would be useful to know if any coolant is getting into the engine oil, as an indicator of a crack in the engine. In any case, water in the hy-tran fluid is a constant complaint with this machine. Leaks around the transmission cover can be one entry point. However, you might think that you put in clean fluid and it got recontaminated, when in fact you didn't empty out the old system thoroughly enough when changing over. There are multiple transmission drains and at least one section that has no drain, aside from fluid in the cylinders and hoses. I've changed over the oil several times (46 quarts!) and have never gotten it cleaned out. More discussion of this is on the 340 discussion group, which you may want to contact. It's at: Link
