My 14 pulls to the left slightly. The cluthches appear to work normally other than that. Could the left clutch be slipping? I have only put about 10 hours on her since I bought it, and it had sat for a number of years without being run.Could it be an adjustment problem. I have manuals, but haven't pulled any covers off yet. Ray

I was reading about your TD14A and you said you had manuals. I have been given a TD14A which as the gas start and then cut over to diesel, but I cant figure out how to get it going. Would you either give me the information on how to start the TD14a on gas and then cut over to diesel to see if it will run. It was left on property that got sold and the new owner told me I could have it, if I would get it off his property. Thanks for info.

Dennis. Open the gas valve at the sediment bulb under the gas tank. Open the diesel tank valve under the seat. Pull the T-handle lever on the bottom left hand of the control panel out into the lock position. The throttle should be in the down or closed position. Pull the choke(bottom Rgt Hand side) and push the starter button. If all goes as planned she should flash up on gas. When it has warmed up, push the T-handle in quickly, and at the same time advance the throttle to about half way up. She should change over to diesel now. Throttle back to idle, and let her warm up. I close the gas valve at this point because mine leaks. I reopen it during cool down then switch back to gas for shut down. After cool down, let her idle a minute or two on gas , then push the T-handle in to shut her off.

I've heard that TD-18's occasionally had to have their steering clutches "flushed" to remove oil build up from unknown sources. I believe the operator who told me this said they used diesel fuel. You might want to inquire about this with someone with experience dealing with steering clutches. On my 18, it had a bee hive in the right steering clutch enclosure when I obtained it. It has taken a lot of flushing to clean it and still, when it gets warm, it doesn't release as well as the left side. It doesn't slip however----I presume too much honey still present. Be sure that the plug is removed from the bottom of the clutch chamber to be sure that there isn't a build up of material inside the chamber. You'll need to plug it to do the flushing.
