After working for 3 or 4 hours, my JD 350C leaks about 1/2 to 3/4 of a gallon of fluid out a little hole with a cotter pin sticking out. My question is: 1) can some one please tell me where the fluid is coming from... and 2) should I get it repaired now or as long as I keep adequate hydrolic fluid in it, can I still keep using it or will I damage something? Thanks

David, One of my 350C's have been leaking hyd. fluid for years. I have been waiting for a reason to fix the leak such as rebuilding the tranny, but it keeps going. I add fluid and keep it full. Seems to drip about a quart or little more if I run it a full day. It stops dripping about 30 minutes after I shut down. Sometimes the reverser dipstick is hard to read because the hyd fluid is clear and it's hard to get it out straight due to the air cleaner, but keep it full. This process has been working for over 10 years now. Good luck.

Likely more than just a seal. Usually the center-bearing inside the reverser gets trashed. Then the shafts get loose and the front seal leaks. Then you have to pull the reverser completely out to fix it.

The transmision front mainshaft beering SEAL is shot. No easy job as the transmision has to be seperated from the bell housing. alvinnms
