I'm trying to find the torque specs for the cylinder head on a TD340 (D166). I'm also looking for a source for a repair manual. Any help appreciated!

Gary, You can get the D166 IH Service manual (GSS-1270) from Binders up in Oregon. I'll add a link to their website. You can get a complete set for about $85, or just order the individual systems (fuel, final drive, D166 Engine, etc. ) for around $9-$12 or 15 each. The torque spec page lists 110-120 for head bolts, 45-55 for rod bolts, and 75-85 for main bearing cap bolts. A footnote says these torques are given with the bolts, studs and nuts lubricated with SAE-30 engine oil. Good lck with a great crawler. Jim

I prefer the manufacturer's manuals. I would try Komatsu/Dresser or whatever it's called now. I got a complete set of manuals for all the TD340 systems some years back. Another priority should be the parts manual. You might also try Case for the D-166 engine manual, which I think was also used in ag tractors. All mine are at my camp, so I can't look up the torque specs. Also try Glenn's T340 website if you can locate it; I can't fine the URL just now but there's tons of stuff there.
