The left turn bar has no resistance when you pull it back. And that side acts like its in neutral the sproket just rolls. I took of the clutch steering cover, I think thats what its call under the seat to see if a lever had broken and everything look the same as the other side. took off both covers to compare. except there seems to be some fluid at the bottom of the compartment? Its not water crawler is stored in a pole barn. So question is what the heck is wrong? Is there a hydrolic leak? or maybe power steering assistant thing not working? Its the thing the pull leaver goes threw on the way to the clutch/ steering housing? I guess? It seems extremely loos with the things on the side of it moving outward when you pull the lever back? Also what turns the sproket? clutches, that get power from what? Just trying to narrow down what could be wrong. And what is the best way to go after what is wrong? Down threw the seat area, or threw the hub, sproket and cluthes? Thanks alot this machine has seat a long time but it always fires right up just the left side has slowly gotten worse untill lever seems to do nothing and that side wont turn. Thanks really need to get it back to working order!!! Lots to do this spring!!

Zack, It sounds like clutches freezin up ot throw out bearing shaft frozen The 350 is completely different the 440 that mike was talkin about !! Deere did improve as time went on much better then earlier models. pull the arm back and forth and make sure throw bearings is moving and if you can see in there if fingers are moving on pressure plate either wat you must tear it down and get it over with. Oil in there could be from imput seal on steering cluches and pinion . Only way to do it right is tear it down and check all parts. and replace what is bad If clutches have had oil on them you should replace them also if throw shaft is stiff you should take it out clean it and anti-sieze ends and make sure it works free as a bird. also make sure power cylinder is working and not leaking If you need any parts i have everything in stock that you may need Link

HEy ED. Don't the early 350s have an adjustable throw bearing? Or is it hydraulic and automaticly adjusted as the clutches wear? Lemmy know. Im wondering.

Hi Mike Yes they are adjustable but you do it on top with the linkage ,There is a threaded rod right on top, 1010 same way

If the track is pulling (has power to it) it isn't a drive train problem. It would be a clutch problem. However if the track has no power (is not pulling) it is very likely a bull gear or pinion shaft is stripped or twisted off. Have you tried to adjust the steering clutch throw out bearing? (you said it was a gradual broblem) makes it sound more like the clutches are wore out or the thro bearing needs to be set closer to clutch pawls.I'm not sure about the 350 series but there should be a set bolt about 1 inch fron the throw bearing (through acess hole under seat) you will need extension on a socket to reach it, loose it about 1 turn and use a pry bar or long screw driver to push the bearing closer to the clutch basket.tighten set bolt back when you are done. I do not know the clearnces but doing this will help determin the problem.
