I have this opportunity to pick up a free TD14A that has been sitting for 14 years. The Tarp that covered it is all rotted out. I put the crank in and turned over the engine. How do I start up this thing. It has two 12 v Batteries under the seat which I will replace. Clean out the gas, check the carb, check the plugs, drain diesel and flush well. Now What?? How do I try to start this up. Is there a manual I can buy? Recommendations will be appreciated

By all means, get manuals for it. Instruction & parts. This site would have them or binder books. First thing (after you get all the regular stuff done) & check if all the valves are moving (closing) (valve cover off) is get it running on gas. Let it get hot. If all the diesel lines are bled out (only fresh fuel oil will do), See if it will run on diesel by throwing the lever (inst. man. will show you the way. If all you get is smoke (white) let it run awhile to see if the smoke goes away. If not, the rings are either bad or stuck.

Yes theres a manaul for them I'd try to explain how to start it but I'd fill this page up plus, theres a couple levers that have to be just right to start it on gas then when its warm you switch it over to diesel and then when you shut it down you should switch back to gas first. I had a TD6 which is just a smaller one then what you have good machines but
