Anyone have any good ideas on how to free up the track adjuster nuts on a Case 310G? I have the lock nuts free, but the main adjuster nuts don't want to budge, even after applying heat with a fire-wrench. I have never had one of these apart before so I don't really have a clear idea of what I'm dealing with. Am I just fighting a frozen nut, or is the part I am trying to free up a lot bigger than that?

Since you have never done this before, you prob just need to use a bigger wrench. I am not sure exactly what you setup is like but I use a 6 foot pipe wrench or a 24 to 32 inch crescent with a bar attached. On my td6 it is easy to use the hydraulics to move the wrench since the blade frame comes around to the rear, not sure if you can do that easily with the 310. -Greg

make sure you loosen the bolts that hold the side brackets together and use lots of heat and loosen adjuster first so maybe you can clean or oil threads before tighten it up

If it is just rusted ,a good dose of dot 3 brake fluid works better than wd40 i think.

what you're trying to turn is just a nut, but it has about 2 inches of threads, because it goes thru the idler yoke. it takes major heat, a good red glow, just to get it to turn. you'll have to reheat until you get it past the threads its currently on. naturally, clean the threads your moving it onto before you start. after you get it completely free, i recommend anti seize compound, to prevent it happening again. good luck, i've done 2 310's already, it takes about an hour a side. jim

I have a 310E, and I think you may be only dealing with a frozen nut, providing you're trying to loosen the nut. If you're trying to tighten the nut to remove slack in the track, could it be that you are at the end of the threads? My main struggle in the past has been to get the lock nuts free!! Brad

Once the nut is hot, application of a good stout air hammer type tool may jar it enough to loosen it, applied to the corner of one of the flats. Good luck.
