I have a lot of oil in the bottom of the clutch compartment, looks like a bad rear engine oil seal. Do I have to pull the motor to replace this? I have a set of manuals but they don't specify how this is to be done. Thanks for your help.

the engine doesnt necessarely have to be remove to replace the seal. but all that you have to go through to do it with the engine inplace is harder than removeing the engine. It is a quite large 2 piece seal. It cannot be fished into place. the oilpan needs to be removed. and the clutch & flywheel also.keep inmind that the engine weighs around 3500lbs and requires a good lift to hold it.

Rick, I have known of the seals being pulled in place with a wire. You have to be able to remove the oil pan first. Most tractors seem to have some kind of obstruction. Sounds like a good mother n law job, to pull the engine. Keep her out of the house for a while. goof
