I just bought a 1940s TD-6 crawler. It runs very rough, and spits oil out of the exhaust(more while running on gas than running on diesel)I know that the injectors need to be redone but is there any way to unstick valves? It also runs from full throttle to half then back up again. Govener problem? Thanks

Hey guys! Does that eratic throttle sound like it could be bad fuel flow or weak fuel pump to you? I've also seen severly worn throttle linkage do this.

Cracked heads on them TD-6s is common and that is probably what your problem is, and it could also be that with that old a machine it could be getting just a little weak

Jake, the problems you are describeing I dont think it is a injector problem. If you have a stuck valve it is possible to get it loose by removeing the valve cover. find the valve that is stuck open sprey some good penertratiog oil on the stem through the spring. then tap it with a hammer. you may have to remove the rocker arms to do this. I rebuilt a TD-6 a couple years ago and found the head to be cracked between each valve. this was the cause of my engine running rough and blowing unburnt fuel out of the exhaust.
