200.00 sounds VERY high for a service manual unless they are a lot more expensive for a C model. We purchased a parts and service manual for a 450B from the local JD dealer for 125.00

It's been 15 years since I worked on a 450C, so my memory may be a little off. Somewhere, where your feet sit, is a plug you pull out and install a pressure gauge. Biggest problem we had with the 450Cs maintaining proper pressure was the engine clutch linkage where it hooked to the hydaulic pressure valve/dampener. There's an adjuster nut and a jam nut on it, and it tends to work loose, and then the pressure gets low. That adjuster nut is accessed by pulling a bung or rubber plug that is towards the front of the machine over the bellhousing. The 450C has a conventional dry engine clutch that is only used when you push the clutch pedal all the way down - this done when you wish to shift the four-speed range transmission and not the HL-R hydraulic trans. The linkage for that dry clutch is setup in such a way that it operates a hydraulic valve at the same time as the clutch linkage, so . . . when you push it in - hydraulic pressure drops. The actual adjuster is a threaded rod with a 5/16" or 3/8" nut on it. Pressure, as I recall, should be 125-150 p.s.i. This is separate from the main pressure control valve.

RIGHT NOW, WEATHER HERE IN SOUTHEAST IN. NOT THE BEST. AND I'M HAVING A NEW POLE BARN PUT UP SO I CAN PUT ALL MY NEW TOYS IN IT. AGAIN, MARK AND JDEMARIS, THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP.
