Backhoe's - General Question

I have nice home lot with a basement already blasted with rubble left behind. There are some big chunks there. I never see strength comparisons between different size hoe's. Can a case 580 drag/carry that much more than a 480? I see a nice Deere 210cfor sale locally but do not want to get one I will overstress. How light duty is it vs a 310c or d, 410, 510 etc? I only can find HP differences and digging depth differences, not general overall strength. I had salesman tell me I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a 310, 410 or 510 with backhoe strength which I found hard to believe. If there is a big strength difference, I would not want to go through this effort to get a backhoe, and then have to hire a bigger one to clear the blasted rubble. Second, I assume all these, even a 210 are extremely heavy and will all get just as stuck as eachother? Or will a 510 always get stuck more than a 310 in the same mud? I do not know the first hand experience answer of weight vs HP ratios to drive through it. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks, Tim

salesman was just lazy and dumb but probably gave you a "close to" right answer, on most full size hoes the hoe will shake the machine and drag it all over the place if you hook onto something solid. as far as 410 and 510 jd (I could be wrong but) the 510 is not made anymore, the 410 is just pumped up and structural size on all three machines is similar in weight- ample to last for 1 basement.

Tim: That salesperson you spoke to was "full" of it! Regardless of the make of the machine (Case,CAT,etc) each will have specs regarding how much the front loader can lift to full height, break-out pounds or how much pressure the loader can generate when the bucket is curled etc. The backhoe portions will have the same types of specs. Now you can start doing some comparisons. Real life example is what I went through. About 7 years ago bought a brand new Massey Ferguson compact tractor with 8ft backhoe. Nice little machine. Operative term being little. Once I started into moving some of the blasted ledge on my 6 acres I was overstressing the machine. Some of the stuff this machine couldn't even push with its 35 HP diesel engine. That's when I bought a used CASE 580E. The case loader lifts 2.5 tons or about 2X what the MF could do. Don't let them kid you. There are difference and it all depends on what you're doing. Regarding getting stuck. Depends on tires and weight of machine, and gearing. My little MF had big turf tires and creeper gears. Very difficult to get stuck. However, the CASE is heavier, tires aren't as wide and gearing is much different. I learned quickly that this machine will get stuck where the other wouldn't. Like anything else it's a trade off but in my case needed the bigger machine. Hope this helped.

A case 580 is a good machine and will move just about anything you will run in 2 but theres always a chance with shoot rock that theres something real big in there. The term shoot rock is what you have now used by a lot of dump trucks etc. As far as some of the small machines you can still move most of it just slower. You can also rent a hammer to be put on some hoes.
