Sorry Scott, thought you recieved my email address. tspivak@vianet.on.ca By the way, whatever the manual says, you do not need to pull the pinion shafts out all the way. mail me before you start.

There is no reason whatsoever to take the sprockets off. I don't have rops on my machine so I can't say if you need to remove it. You will need to take all the linkages off the levers and take the top off the clutch housings. The clutches and brakes come out through the top. It's not that hard really, just dirty. There are some points that have to be followed to get them out and if you decide to purchase the machine email me and I will tell you how to do it. The 500 is a great little machine and not hard to work on.

If you get the machine,BUY a manual....best $$$ you'll spend. If I remember correctly, you have to ensure that you don't let any small parts fall into final housings.Good luck.

Scott: It's not too bad a job if you have a decent place to work and some decent tools. You'll have to break the tracks and remove the sprockets. Then remove the right and left pinions. Pull the seat and fuel tank off. Then you can sometimes swing the Hyd tank and tool box off to either side, otherwise you'll have to remove them as well. Then you can remove the steering clutch covers and lastly remove the intermediate shaft from the bevel gear. Then they are ready to lift out. I may have missed something along the way, but those are the basics. They may not be in the exact order either. If you get into it keep us in mind for parts. We have new discs available as well as many other parts.

why break the track and remove sprocket? isn't pinion access thru sprocket opening?
