I have a lot of aparts for that machine really close to me. The guy as taken apart about 30 of them over the years and so he has fully tranys ect for that machine ect. Now U/C parts like rails and stuff are a big toughter to come by.

As for the 2-71 the parts are available from Detroit dealers and Federal Mogul ect. The only thing that is very tough to find are the rotors for the roots blower. Shell that out and you might be looking at a 1500 bill to find a good one. Rebuilds for me have been running around 475.

AC HD5 was produced from 1949-1955. Look at www.ibdozing.com in the reference section and you will see the sales lit for the HD9 the bigger version of the HD5.

The HD6 did supercede the HD5 but by 1960 the parts interchageablity between the machines begins to decline markedly. If I am correct by 1965 the UC are no longer fully interchangeable.

Yes there were a lot built but engines trany and a a lot of stuff changed and are not really interachangable.

Look at www.ibdozing.com. Lagest site on the internet for old AC stuff.

Other than the engine most of the parts interchange with HD-6. So you have a production run from 1946 through 1974 of nearly 60,000 units.

Engine parts are available from any diesel truck shop, I have found them to be fairly reasonably priced, recently put two injectors and a fuel pump on mine. Some parts are still available from your friendly Fiat-Allis dealer, but very pricey. I once got a transmission and a ring gear from James Farr Machinery in Shreveport,La. Ph. 318-636-6050, thats been two years ago, he had six or seven HD-5's parted out. You can still get new seals and bearings from local bearing supply. You might have to call around using yellow pages but parts are still available. Peppy little machine, just completed a house pad for my brother, put about 50 hours on mine. Johnny in E.Tx.

As far as I can tell the HD5 was made between 1946-55. Had the 142ci GM 2/71 engine with 38 drawbar horse power.
