Looking for weight info on JD440c with loader, counter balance weights ( 4 weights and frame), and ripper. I beleive the basic unit weighs approx. 6300 lbs. I will be trailering approx. 360 miles.
Also interested if any 440c came with alternators instead of 6V generator. Please advise.

I have a 60 model JD440. Came with 6 volt gen.
Prior owner had converted to 12 volt - just disconnected the gen and ran off battery. I made
a new bracket for a CHEVROLET alternator. Tractor was rewired and a 60 amp ampmeter installed. I also installed an electronic ignition conversion.
See Radio Shack Industrial cat. If anyone needs
help just e-mail.

The following are shipping weights from JD Operator's Manuals:
440IC - 5850 pounds
440ICD - 6300 pounds
91 Loader w/4 weights & scarifier - 4301 pounds
831 Loader w/4 weights & scarifier - 4331 pounds
440IC (gasoline) was equipted w/6 volt generator
440ICD (diesel) was equipted w/12 volt generator
Several 440IC's have been converted to 12 volt using an alternator.

Tinman,

This info was posted a few days ago for a dozer, I would expect the loader to be similar + some for the counter balance weights and your ripper.

440IC-Approx. Shipping Weight - 5850 Pounds
440ICD-Approx. Shipping Weight - 6300 Pounds
63 dozer (inside mount manual angle & tilt) - 72" blade - 1189 pounds, 90" blade - 1264 pounds
64 dozer (inside mount 6 way Hyd) - 1600 Pounds
602 dozer (outside mount) - 1293 Pounds.
A gas 440 dozer with no rear attachments should not excede 7500 Pounds.

My guess would be about 7500 to 8000 lbs.

Last, no they all should have had generators, alternators came later.
