How long do rubber tracks on a bobcat mini backhoe last? Weekend use and occasional job,not everyday work. Also how to judge used rubber tracks?

Chris: With proper use and care, rubber tracks will last as long as the rest of the machine. The usual failure mode of rubber tracks is "pilot error"--careless operators doing things the tracks aren't designed for. Obvious examples include spinning the tracks on rough, broken stone (such as "shot rock" from blasting), trying to take too large of a blade-full when grading (again resulting in excessive spinning) and poor maintenance--improper tensioning (too tight is as bad as too loose!) being probably the biggest culprit. When checking tracks, look for cracks, treads that are loose, "repairs" such as wiring a tread back in place or splicing the track with wire, and wear at the sprocket contact points.
