Heyas,

Just wondering where to buy a bucket
greaser fitting for my grease gun. It is supposed to fit the weird grease
fittings on this dozer. I figure I
need to get the parts of the track
greased up at some point.

as for what it looks like, it is quite a
bit bigger than a standard grease fitting.
Probably like 1/2in. diamater, with a smaller circle in the middle.

Thanks for any info

On the old IH they really did not use grease, it was oil. Depending upon the amount of use and the type of rollers ect that you had you were supposed to oil them daily.

Now I have seen guys that convert the grease/oil fitting to standard grease fittings. I do not like that much since it seems to not allow for the grease to move and lubricate as well and the brass bushings give out easier.

They used a button lock-on fitting attached to a pump lubricator. The lock on is what oppens up the valve on the fitting You can still find the lubrictators at tractor supply stores, farm stores, junk dealers. Just got one branded by CAT for use with IH. Paint it red and you will never see the difference from the book. Just change hoses and go.

Never want to grease the rails, Grease causes dirt to stick to the rails and you will accelerate wear not reduce it.

They hold a couple of gallons of oil and have a pump handle.

One good thing about them is I use the same device for filling my final drives, transmissions, and for lubing tractors ect. Very handy to have a a lubricator bucket.

Good luck with your TD6, good machine. You may want to check out www.ibdozing.com. They have a large collection of IH equipment there.

I recently bought a TD6 62 series with Drott 4 in 1 bucket. The rollers and idlers on it do not have grease or button head fittings. A pipe plug closes the end of the shafts. I assume that these are 'lifetime' lubricated, but is it a good idea to take out the plugs, fashion a device to refill them, and hopefully extend the lifetime?

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply.

I assume the spear is a short length of tube fitted with a button head on one end, and perhaps a bevel cut at the business end.

Just pump track roller lube in until it starts to run out, and quickly reinstall the pipe plug?

Thanks again,

grease is good you need a tip on your grease gun for what are called button fittings it slides over the fitting and has a small lever that lockes it in place, should still be able to purchase at a good tractor parts store many other dozers had this type of fitting int. cat. ect. should be able to put on regular grease gun good luck
