Last fall my steering clutch was slipping. While I pulled the final drive I found the discs were all OK, it was because the fingers on the pressure plate were sticking way out and hitting the throw-out bearing. I put in a used pp that I got years ago in case I needed it from a guy who said he knew how to adjust the fingers. Apparently he didn't, because now it won't throw out the clutch. The manual doesn't say a word about adjusting. Do you have any pointers? TIA

Hi Jim. I was going to use mine to pile brush the way it is, but I decided to tear it apart now while it's in the shop and not full of mud. I'm going to go with a new pp; pulling it apart twice is enough.

I am going to tear mine down in the spring and rebuild the engine,,probably put a new drive clutch in then if it looks very worn,I am not sure,, but I may not have to remove the engine to put rings and rod bearings in it,, looks like the plate under the engine may come off and make enough room for the pan to come off,,,Jim

They tried to sell me a main clutch instead of steering yesterday. Good thing I had them open the box so I could see it, knew it was too big. FYI the price on it is $237.50. Steering is about $20 less. If it wasn't so hard to tear it apart I'd try cheaper alternatives that might not work.

I have steering clutch parts for about a third of what Deere is.

Yes, there is a tool for setting the fingers. I have them for $10 if you want one. I am leaving today for Gathering of the Green in a few minutes, but will try and check on messages while gone.
If you want one, and need it fast, send me an e-mail through my website, and I will see if I can mail one from Moline.
