Could someone tell me what chains are on a Case 450. I have a farm and am looking to buy a dozer and the one i'm calling about the fellow said the chains have not been turned, they are still on the same side as when he put them on new. Thank you

I have a question about the sprockets. Is it possible or advisable to swap sides with the sprockets? Mine seem to be wearing mostly on the foward driving side and not so much on reverse side.

To use up your sprockets fully this is incouraged. Usually rotated when you turn your pins&bushings. You will get full side of sprocket cup pushing on fill side of bushing. Don't get anxious your chain will snap when in reverse. Keep track tension proper, you can run the sprockets out till you can shave on them.(the sprocket tips will wear to a sharp edge) Good Luck!

The "chains" are the movable links that make up the tracks. They have bushings on them that should be turned 180 degrees(pressed out by a track shop, rotated 180 degrees and pressed back in)as they wear. You want to "turn the pins and bushings" before they wear through. You should also replace the sprockets at this time so the curve in the sprocket tooth matches the curve on the bushing so as not to cause abnormal wear. A pin and bushing turn, and a new set of sprockets will run $700-1000 depending on who does the work and if you buy OEM or aftermarket sprockets,if the shop does the removal/reinstall of the tracks.

Do you know what the difference is between the different case 450's. like case 450, 450b and 450c etc.

The letters stand for years 450..1965-1969 450B...1979-1983....450C1983-1993 Now remember every letter newer you go means a bigger diamond you must buy your wife to please her for you buying this toy! So the further you go up the alphabet the more it will cost you.
