I just got a jd 410 tlb and I haven't received my manuals yet. I have a bit of slop in the boom pivot pin that lets it raise upand down. Is the pin riding on bushings that can be replaced or is this a casting that is bored for the pin. This is the lowest horizontal pin on the hoe base, I hope that explains what I am referring to. If bushings, how are they replaced ??

Yes there are bushings, but at this point you don't know if the slop is just from wear in the pin and bushing, or from the bushing coming loose in the boom where it's supposed to be a press fit.

thanks, The pin is very tight in the boom itself as this is pinned, but there is a lot of slop in the area of the swing casting. I will unhook the boom and look at the area in the next day or two.All of the other areas seem to be pretty tight. rick

Yeah, and the bushing is supposed to be a very tight press fit into that casting. So, bushing is designed to wear where the pin contacts it, and most likely that's all that's wrong with it. But . . . common problem on many backhoes, the bushing works loose and hammers out the bore in the casting egg shaped. In that case, the casting is either bored oversize and an oversize bushing installed, or welded and remachined.
