Well,I have temporarily given up on getting this thing to run. I just got to looking at other areas needing attention and have been tinkering. I spent all week rebuilding the tilt cylinder "ears" as they were all but gone on one cylinder. This will be a test of my welding, I guess. Also had to rebuild the brackets that mount on either side of tilt cylinder. Another test of my welding. One side was big enough for my wife to put her fist through. The former owner must have lost his grease gun several years before he parked this thing as all bushings and pins are worn and rusty. Whew, what a mess. I made several new pins for the bucket.....
Spent all day Sunday getting the track adjuster off one side. Broke 2 bolts and then 2 bits trying to drill the broke bolts. Finally just drilled and tapped 2 new holes. I do have some ?

1)My adjuster cylinders do not look really bad. Why can I not just add about 1 inch to the length of the proper adjuster rod so it sets deeper in the cylinder where pits are less likely? I made a new rod last week and have 2" stock to redo if this is a feasible idea.
2)I have all 4 adjuster yoke mounting bolts broken in the front roller mount. I assume I can just flip front roller around and use other side?
3)I have one tilt cylinder that has a nice patch of rust where there should be chrome. Any way to repair without having turned and chromed? Remember, this is for farm use only. I have already seen my budget go out the window and I already have the seal kit. A little seepage is OK.

BTW - local Case dealer will come and get and rebuild engine, complete rebuild including removal and cleaning and head work for about $800 labor. I am seriouly debating as I do not know the history of this engine and based on what I have found elsewhere, I doubt original owner maintained it like it should have been. Before I commit, I intend to remove injectors and get tested. I will keep you posted.

Thanks as always for the advice.
