Things you can see are ground engaging tools, dozer arms, braces, moldboard and cutting edges. Ripper if it has one. The undercarrage, how far ahead are the idlers, near the end of the track frames, idler up and down movement, sharp tips on the sprockets. Side to side movement in the sprockets or oil leaks at sprocket seals. Final drive oil level and condition. Dirty or milkey from water in it. Oil leaks or water leaks anywhere. Black oil seeping out of the exh manifold joints with the cyl head,Engine blowing oil. You are better off if you can work it where you find it and see what happens when you do. How does it shift, picking up the next gear positivly and not pausing too long. Try steering at low throttle and make sure the clutches release. If you have a hard time steering like this the bevel gear bearings might be going out of it. Look at the magnetic suction screen in the trans pump suction line. Email if you want to talk more.
