On my JD 420 crawler, it turns real hard to the right, you have to take the lever all the way to the stop just to get any response. Going left wont happen at all, it wont steer left, and when you pull that stick all the way back, it pushes the clutch in. Also, it lacks power, it will only run with the choke on, why is that. it has only been sitting for a year or two, three at the maximum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Doug, if it's been sitting that long, you probably have rust between the drive/driven plates in the final drive. It will probably require pulling out the drives and at least cleaning and adjusting the plates and pressure plate as well as adjusting and/or relining the brake bands. These dry-plate machines should be run around a little every few months even if it's just to keep things free. Either that or keep it in a nice dry shop. If you take it down, make sure the drain holes are open on the finals. Any specifics you'd like or diagrams, let me know. Hope this helps - sorry for the work - Ron
